Sea Creatures #1

This piece is the first in a collection of sea creatures. I have always had a fascination with the ocean and love sharks, octopuses, squids, and pretty much anything that lives in the sea.

I love bright colors and this was an experiment in an unusually bright and circus-like color scheme.

Creative Fridays

Creative Fridays is a personal project of mine that I plan to launch soon. As designers we work mostly on client-work and it's good to take a break and think like a student again. Design is all about learning and trying new things. This is an experiment where every Friday, there will be a new assignment/challenge to work on in which you get 1 whole week to finish and send it in to be posted for critique.

Web Icon Pack

These are a couple of icons I illustrated for different aspects of a clients business. They were pretty fun to make and an experiment in making tiny objects. Even though they are minis, I still wanted to make sure and add tons of highlights, shadows, and attention to tiny details.

I Hear in Limes

This was an experiment I wanted to do in textures and trying to add a sense of reality to the illustration. I worked in tiny brushes for the details in each of the limes, giving it a sense of texture. I also paid close attention to the string in the cassette tape and added different colors to add texture and depth.

This was fun and also a learning experience in Illustrator. I like to always experiment with new brushes and methods on making new things.

La Mujer en Azul

This is a personal piece that I made when I wanted to get some practice in illustrating people. I loved the result and all the trials and tribulations I had to deal with, especially on illustrating eyes and eyelashes. In the end I like the result and it definitely helped me to illustrate other people in various client projects.

For the Birds

This was a fun personal piece that I ended up using in the intro of a mini Flash portfolio I made. I love birds of all kinds and wanted to make a canary in Illustrator, but wanted to play it up and use eccentric colors.

In this piece I had fun experimenting with the Illustrator pen tool and pencil tool then added different brush strokes to create neat effects. It was fun to see the different squiggles and strokes as texture instead of just lines.
